SUNY Erie Community College City Campus
The ECC City Campus is located in the Old Post Office, an architectural landmark constructed in 1901 that is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Buffalo Engineering was the Prime Consultant for the $3.7 million HVAC Equipment, Controls, Lighting and Plumbing Renovations project. The scope of work included chiller and cooling tower replacement, lighting improvements, heat pump replacement, variable frequency drives, and facility management system replacement. We provided project management, design, code compliance, bidding coordination and construction administration services for the project.
Design of equipment access for the chiller was a challenge because the building exterior could not be altered or disturbed due to the building’s historic status. The chiller was shipped “broken down” and all components were brought in through a 40” x 48” window and assembled in place. Also, specialty “pendant bowl style” lighting fixtures were selected to meet historic preservation criteria.
Additional projects at the City Campus include: Elevator Modernization; Kitchen Remodeling; and Kitchen and Serving Line Air Conditioning.
