New $14 million, 55,000 sf animal shelter. Spaces include: Separate dog and cat adoption areas, treatment/surgery rooms, isolation, crematorium, pharmacy, stray dog and cat areas, offices, conference rooms, and retail space. Very high air changes were designed for the building to control odors in animal areas. Energy recovery devices were designed for air handlers to reduce life-cycle cost of the mechanical system. A radiant in-floor heating system was designed to provide comfort heat to animals. The project also included an intake barn (separate structure), a stand-alone barn for farm animals, and a wildlife enclosure for rehabilitation.
